Intro and Build

Wow :yikes: its been a long time since I updated this thread. Due to reasons mostly out of my control I've not worked on my XS in ages and its definitely time to do the finishing touches and get it on the road :bike:

Here are some pictures of how it stands today...

Seat and tank placed on for picture. Tank is to be painted by a friend, artist Will Barras who I share the studio space with and the seat was covered by another friend from my studio who does leather work.

Cleaned but not over detailed engine bay (I don't like over bling bikes, they are for riding )

I will post up more pictures as I finish off all the small details that seem to take forever to finish a project.

Hey man,

Nice build. What size of these tires you got? thx

Hey Travis, I think the tank is from a BSA D13, I would have to dig out the paper work to be 100% sure. I would sell it, but I think the postage would be pretty expensive from the UK. PM me if you are interested.

Jack, I double checked the tyres and they are K82's not K70's. They were £55 (~$85) each fitted which I think is an ok price here in the UK, not sure about in US.

I'm a sucker for nice clean electrics and I can't get over how great yours look. I've got an xs that needs a total rewire, would love to see/read more detailed what you have going on under the seat!

Great build, thanks for the inspiration

(Also what's up first post ever)

Jon

Just seen your post (been on holiday in the South of France :D) and I will post some pictures and some more details of the electrics when I get a minute.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Great build thread! Now I feel better about having mine in a small storage room at my apt. complex. I can't wait to see this finished!

Definitely a nice clean build. I like the brushed bare-metal look; definitely a Shinya inspired look! I'm a fan of his style as well. Thanks for the great read (went through the thread)

I know this is an old thread, but did you fit risers to the standard rs125 yoke? Did you bolt them or weld them? Also, i don't suppose anyone has the dimensions of the RS125 wheel spindle do they? I have loads knocking about at home, or could get one made up, trying to do it all on the cheap, and don't really want to buy one if i can help it.

Hey man, I just bolted some risers through the top yoke. I did a bit of Dremmel work with a carbide tool to create a bit more room for the nut and washer. If you are using the RS125 front end you with need to change the wheel bearings in the front wheel for the axle to fit, no big deal. I cannot remember the size of the axle off the top of my head sorry. I think the whole front end was the 99-05 years model. Hope this helps.

Tidy build lad , the electrics are very tidy , I've just bought an XS 400 in boxs lol but it has the RS 125 front already in it . If you don't mind me asking did you use the XS speedo drive with the XS wheel and would you know the top head stock bearing you used .

why not use a GPS speedo? just needs switched live.
won't work indoors but then who needs that (unless you are an MOT shop)
Get them from aliexpress for £55
