78 XS400 Mach1 Cafe Build

Hmmm. I think I see where you are going Buddha. I'm sure there were no oversights so I'm curious the answer!

That's a great catch guys, I'll be honest, I wish I would have spent more time mocking things up as it came together. The bike came with the rear part of the frame chopped off, so I didn't realize when I welded the rear hoop on, that it would be in that close proximity to the rear tire. The bike was completely disassembled to a bare frame at that point. Once I had built the seat pan and the rear hump and painted everything I started to reassemble and realized how close things would be. I am at the point now where I'm too far down the road, I think so anyways, and I will be either getting different shocks to raise the rear, or figuring out a way to lock these in place. If either of you has any other suggestions, I'm always open to ideas. Keeping in mind that this bike will not be putting on a ton of miles, more for puttering around town to go to the local pub or coffee shop, or maybe the farmers market on a nice Saturday. Comfort for a long tour is not a high priority.

I love your confidence in my lack of oversights! :D
What you don't know about me is that my ADHD has me bouncing all over the place on a build like this, and while I do love the creativity that comes with it, oversights and a lack of patience are a common theme in my life as well as this build when I don't plan properly. I just have to learn to accept it, plan better when I have the patience for it, and try to enjoy the good with the bad.

Ha! well, we are kindred spirits then. I personally think you should have gone with it and pretended like it was on purpose. One of the great things about forums is that you get lots of good advice (even more bad, but thats another conversation) from very talented folks. I am even mire curious to see what fix you come up with.
