Hi all I figured this would be the best forum to post this as the 250 is basically a 400 with a sleeve.

I acquired this a few weeks ago and got it running today, my question is, what's the story with the vacuum fed fuel tap? I believe mine has been removed and the hoses on the inlet rubbers have been blocked, but how does the fuel tank breath?

also, i havent had the balls to take it far and sat on 60kmph for a bit, in 6th gear at 4k rpm lol, would this even make 100kmph???

cheers!

can get a petcock repair kit if needed from yambits uk , the late model 250 is basically a resleved 400 BUT the early 250 are a 250 not resleved , if yours is later then importent you get the right filters etc .. have a look at yambits site and you will see the difference , apparently the later model 400 was resleved to 250 to be allowed into the jap home market so are basically is the 400 for parts .. as far as speed goes (mine which iv just bought and has very good compression) the early 250 are fairly gutless and i cant see the later ones being any different , only ridden mine home so far and just managed to touch 100kph twice and had to downshift at the smell of a hill BUT though the engine is very healthy the carbs are a bit how ya going and im just waiting on carb kits and diaphrams at the moment , if yours is the resleved model and a keeper i would be looking for 400 barrels and pistons as easy conversion and a lot more h/way friendly if the early one bad luck .. me im not to worried as only a stable mate for my xs650 , also will only be a town bike
