My Bratstyle build

got the mufflers from the german ebay, originally intended for harleys, probably sportsters yeah :)
gotta be inrecognizable! peeps will wanna steal my xs real soon ;)

i'm trying to find a way to fit them between the carbs and the gastank, at least somewhere in that area. That way they don't show while riding, and don't draw much attention when my legs aren't obscuring the area haha

Can't remember where I saw it, but if you make a fake oil-tank you could fit the electronics, including your coils, in there. If I see the pic again I'll post it. :)

Edit: Found it! :) It's on a xs650.

I had considered placing them inside the 'oil tank' but i was unsure whether they could get really warm and might require some cooling!?
I'll figure something out :)

I don't think cooling would be an issue with the coils. The only reason I say that is because of the stock location. The coils are right above the engine, so they definitely got hot there.....Just my opinion though

Good point! I guess I'll just give it a try! :)
Gonna need some looooong plug cables though hehe, which isnt that big an issue as these ones (incl the plug) look weather cracked

managed to strip down the wiring in the neck area a bit

this is what i managed to take off

img081u.jpg

and here's what it looks like now
this has lighting, speedo, and starter, no blinkers yet, they'll be added once the build is further along

Swapped the way too heavy ignition for a nice and small honda mb50 ignition like this one:
735030.jpg

wiring seemed easy... tore out the looping black/red wire, which left only 4 wires... took some figuring out which wires got connected upon turning ignition on, but in the end managed to get everything turned off on OFF and everything working on ON using only 2 of the cables of the mb50 ignition :D The new ignition is dangling down from the 3 wires you can see but it will obviously be relocated ;)

All connections are soldered, except for the ones I'll need to take of in the near future
Lighting is always on, no more far beam. Blinkers will be added later on once I'm (nearly) done. No more kill switch either. Gonna keep the starter though, haven't quite gotten the hang of kickstarting yet

So what's next? Hopefully I'll be making a start on a seat soon, and I need to figure something out in terms of a fake oil tank... Also gonna need to find a nice and small starter button but that shouldn't be a problem... will be relocating the speedo to a more centered position compared to the upper yoke, and need to make a nice rear fender construction :p the fender is waiting impatiently!

just now managed to get a good bargain on a r6 brake master cylinder

My stock braking cylinder needs to be revised, which is expensive as well... So might as well go for a better looking upgrade :D

Nice build so far. I really like the frame work you've done!

I'm curious about your rear shocks. They look shorter. Could you tell me what the eye to eye length is and where you got them? I want to lower my bike and those shocks look perfect!

Thanks Requiem. I really like the black on the shock and it looks like the shock drops the rear end a decent amount.

Ace- I haven't really checked bike bandit, I'll check it out thanks.

haha thats allright :)
probably getting my r6 brake pump in the mail today, if i can find the time I'll have some pics up later today or tomorrow
