hello to you here on xs400.com, i am a recently new to the xs400,com and a new owner of a 1980 xs 400 sg, would someone let me know how much oil to replace in the forks for this bike, and i would like to do an oil change, i also need to know how many quarts iths motor holds, thank you:shrug:
 
Hello and welcome from Cali. The search function is your friend. The service manuals are also available for download. Take some time, look around, the knowledge will be more satisfying once it is earned :D
 
Welcome BadLuck. As crush pointed out, we do have the PDF downloadable manuals at our disposal here. I would suggest printed/saving one of those before tearing into any project on the bike. It will also have most of the fluid info that you seek.
 
Hello and welcome to the forum. 142cc 20w fork oil - directly from the Owner's Manual. For the engine, best oil is diesel grade 15w40. I use Valvoline Blue because it has more anti-wear additive than most.

welcome to the forum Badluck, i filled mine with 20w fuchs fork oil tried multigrade and it foamed too easily.
