Bike loses power when I downshift to stop

Hey Ted, have you checked your timing? I had similar, but not exact, symptoms with mine. After riding it for a little bit, when i'd pull to red light and pull the clutch in it would die. After gapping/adusting my timing, it went away.

Headlight / Turnsignal Brands and Advice

I have an HID H4 Projector Lens Headlight with a bucket set-up from DCC. The HID is from ebay/china one of the many listed there. It works, took a bit of work to get it all together (definitely would have been easier if i had some patience). Hardest part was removing the glass lens from the...

For Sale - Petcock and Fuel Line available

So i took my petcock apart. i guess the PO used a normal steel washer instead of the OEM washer plate that you suggested. I'm not sure how it wasn't leaking until just now, but i'll assume it was just a miracle. i put the washer plate on before the steel washer from the PO and it sealed it...

    Valves adjustment

valve cover? do you mean the cylinder head cover? I've never done that to my bike. I normally just take the 4 valve caps off and do it that way. Someone else may need to answer that one, but i don't see why not.

    Valves adjustment

Hey Oli, what i normally do to find TDC is: -Pull both spark plugs out -Take off your covers -Use your 17mm socket wrench (or normal wrench) to turn the motor (counterclockwise) -At the same time have your finger covering the spark plug hole (first the left side, since you adjust your left...

For Sale - Petcock and Fuel Line available

Hey xschris, i saw that one while researching. but how do you know it fits my petcock specifically? maybe i just don't understand the parts of a petcock yet since i haven't had to rebuild on before. seems like most of the rebuild parts are pretty standardized i guess? i bought the washers...

For Sale - Petcock and Fuel Line available

I see. i'm not sure exactly where its coming from, but its ends up at the bolt heads at the bottom of that bottom plate where the fuel line connects. I'll look for those washers, but how do people buy rebuild kits for these things? i couldn't find a part # or anything on this petcock.

For Sale - Petcock and Fuel Line available

I'm trying to get a rebuild kit for my petcock. Theres been droplets of gas forming around the bolts. problem is, the PO replaced the original petcock so i don't know what kind of petcock i have. i'm assuming all rebuild kits aren't applicable. can anyone identify my petcock? or tell how i...

    BS34 Float Bowl: Stripped Threading

an apology is in order. xschris you were close. all of what you said probably still needs to be done soon, but i believe my main mistake was that in the diaphragm i put the needle slide plate before the need slide itself. i saw the blow-out images of the carb on bike bandit that it was that...

    BS34 Float Bowl: Stripped Threading

Just went through and re-checked valves, re did points. both were within a reasonable range of the manual's specs. i'm boiling the carbs again right now. I kind of feel like adding oil to the cylinders may be adding to my problem. i did an oil change yesterday too because there was a little...

    BS34 Float Bowl: Stripped Threading

I had read that too much fuel in the cylinder (due to carburetor issues) can cause the cylinder to run rough, which is what i thought i was experiencing on my left side. some other posts/forums said that adding a little oil could help lube it back up. i did foul a few plugs, i used old plugs...

    BS34 Float Bowl: Stripped Threading

This is getting more and more frustrating. i took the carbs again again and cleaned all the passages by hand with my air compressor and some carb cleaner/seafoam. re-cut some fuel line with the fuel filter to the petcock, just in case. now i can't get her to start. i put a bit of oil in the...

    BS34 Float Bowl: Stripped Threading

Hey xschris, Guess i gotta take off the carbs again and see haha. I'll take a look this weekend. But when cleaning my carb, a lot of the jets didn't budge when i lightly tried to remove them, and i noticed the PO tried to pull them with force so now i'm afraid of bending the brass. but at this...

    BS34 Float Bowl: Stripped Threading

Thanks XSChris, I'll give it a try today. I was considering sending my carbs off to a professional rebuilder. Through it costs and arm and a leg, i want to make sure the carbs are goods....and because taking apart the butterfly pieces is inviting me to break/lose parts.
