    pamco failure?

I was riding home from a quite chilly but sunny rip through town. Sitting at a light, turning left. Coast was clear, gave it some gas and clutch and it bogged. Exhaust went a kinda bassy tone and I figured some junk had clogged a jet or a coil failed. Nursed it home on one cylinder and I found...

    Connected battery, heard a click

So I put a new battery in it and I went to connect it and I heard a relay click. There should not be an energised relay with the key off. It’s the relay right behind the head tube, just under the tank. What short would cause this?

AGM YT12A-BS - does it fit in a stock battery box?

I just want to know if it fits. Please, I don’t need to hear that the charging system won’t match it or that the stock battery is best. Dimension wise, can it squeak in there? The battery box from 76-81/2 or whatever year/country they stopped selling the 360-400 in your country lol.

    XS360 jetting

I live at sea level. Bike is bone stock except for pamco ignition, and a Mac single wall exhaust. 2 into 2. Carbs are stock. Mixture screw is 4 full turns out. If I set them to the stock 1.5 turns out, it pops a lot on decel. Plugs are iridium and look great. I love how it hot idles so...

XS360 - low idle on choke

So the bike runs great. Once it’s warmed up. And cold even... But cold and on the choke, it doesn’t idle high and the throttle needs to be open. The air circuit on the choke is clean. The choke circuit is apparently clean (yes the holy trinity or mixture holes by the butterflies are clean)...

    Is the mac 2-2 welded?

Looking at the pics, it seems it's welded and you can't use the stock finned exhaust clamps. You're married to their mufflers I assume.

    XS360 needle jets

So recently I discovered mine were worn out. Badly worn needle jet and badly worn jet needle. The XS360 had an X-6 needle jet or "emulsion tube" stock whicxh are discontinued. But the X8 apparently works in place and you can buy NOS X8 jets still from the XS650 vendors. But these are in limited...

    Quick pilot screw question.

I'm coming from a long line of thumpers and this is my first twin. It's a 360. Bone stock except the ,idlers have been repacked and don't appear stock. So, reading good old post #34 on the great idle thread, it says to adjust the screws until highest idle is achieved, the back them out half a...

    Rebuilding a fasher unit

I wanted to keep my self cancelling signals and to try and keep my XS360 restoration as stock as possible. With a flasher unit being over $100 I decided it was a good time to fix my flasher unit instead. It's a three prong on case you don't know, that is wired a bit differently than 2 prong so...

    Dual disc conversion, brake lines?

I've got it almost all done on the 360, everything is mounted except the lines. I'm considering a dual banjo at the master cylinder and running dual lines right from the top. I save line and the install looks cleaner and more factory if I dual banjo at the right caliper and hoop the line over...

    Cold start problems

I thought I knew carbs. I've tried it all and I'm stumped. Stock 1980 xs400. I have sprayed 3 cans of carb cleaner in every orifice. All the jets out, emulsion tubes out, choke out, into the ultrasonic cleaner. Carb cleaner comes out all 4 holes by the butterflies when I spray from the air...
