    Worn needle jets, carbs kaput?

I raised the float level to 28.5mm and it's still bogging down on idle. i turned the idle mix screws in all the way and they made no difference. Beginning to think the screw holes are letting in too much gas. If i turn off the fuel line (I have a inline shut off valve between the petcock and the...

    Worn needle jets, carbs kaput?

Floats were set to 27.5mm, which is within spec. I'll have to check the needle seats but one is just a few months old. I'm thinking I need to raise the floats a bit more.

    Worn needle jets, carbs kaput?

It took forever to get the idle mix screws in the mail, but they finally arrived. I compared them and the needle jets to what I had already in the carbs. The z8s are exactly the same as stock. I realized the old idle mix screws are broken and not different like i originally thought. The orifices...

    Worn needle jets, carbs kaput?

Not much but the o-rings and the float needle and seats. The PO rebuilt the carbs before, so they were in pretty good shape already. He had 2 different needle seats, though, one stock and one that wasn't, so I replaced those in tandum. Tinkering around today, I pulled out my idle mix screws...

    Worn needle jets, carbs kaput?

The needles are installed correctly. O-rings are fresh, i replaced them when i first rebuilt the carbs. I went ahead and ordered the z8 jets, I'm curious to see if they change anything.

    Worn needle jets, carbs kaput?

My plugs get fouled pretty much every time i start the bike. NGK Iridiums. I clean them after every ride. The filters aren't oiled. I have k&n filter oil for my car's filter, though, idk how well it'd work on the foam.

    Worn needle jets, carbs kaput?

My bike has uni pod filters and 2-into-1 exhaust with no baffles. I had a build thread around here before, but i haven't kept up with it haha. Jetting is stock (17.5 pilot, 135 main, needle clip 3 notches down), and like I mentioned, it runs rich in the low/mid range. Hell, when it's cold the...

    Worn needle jets, carbs kaput?

The idle mix screws are at 1 1/4 out, any more that and it becomes too rich. The manual says to replace the needle and the jet at the same time, so should I get http://www.mikesxs.net/product/48-0657.html to go along with it?

    Worn needle jets, carbs kaput?

Hey guys, I've been trying everything to get the carbs on my xs360 running right. The bike was running too rich no matter what I did, especially in the low and mid range. I did a bit of digging, and I found some talks on a honda forum (blasphemy!) about worn needle jets. They were saying over...

How to adjust the throttle cable

There should be a screw with a white head positioned between the carbs. That Is the idle speed screw. If everything is adjusted right on the bike, you'd use that screw to set the idle. But that's the thing, there are many factors that play a role in setting the idle. If the idle speed screw...

    My '76 XS360C Restoration

I got mine for $70 even from an authorized seller on Amazon. But I guess I bought their last set because Amazon is listing it for over $80 now. I know they're slightly cheaper than that on eBay.

    My '76 XS360C Restoration

If you want to look into new springs, I just bought some for my xs360. They're Progressive Suspension 11-1109 19.75" fork springs. Found which ones I needed from an old thread on here. They arrived today, I'm excited to drop them in later this week. Or, you can look into the 'minton mods' that...

    New Day, New Problem!

Sorry for the late response, work has been kicking my ass lately. I couldn't find the pilot jets, as expected. My old pipes apparently got mixed in and thrown out with the holiday thrash pile, which I'm super mad about! The biggest problem out of anything has always been the bike's battery. It...

    New Day, New Problem!

Before i put the pods on, i tore down the carbs and cleaned them. When i put the filters on, the bike would start and run just fine after a bit of tinkering. Once i got the jet kit in the mail, that's when i slapped on the new exhaust pipes. Once i did that, that's when the trouble started...

    '79 xs400 rough>reliable>cafe 'Scarlett'

Sweet bike, dude! I think the tank would look killer with the yamaha logo decals, personally. It'll give it enough of a pop while keeping it minimalist, if that's your thing. About the 2-to-1 exhaust, I recently slapped a set on my xs360. Although I haven't been able to get it steadily running...

    New Day, New Problem!

The pods I have are just some generic brand that I got off eBay for 20 bucks. They're not attached directly to the carbs, however, but the stock H-pipe. I heard using the H-pipe would give better flow than if they were attached to carbs themselves. I did all the engine adjustments a few weeks...

All in ons gauge? Or how about this one?!

I feel ya, man. I wanted the acewell for my build, too, but damn that price tag! I wouldn't kill your budget over it, though. Unless it's worth it to you. There's a reason you mainly see them on higher budget customs haha.

    New Day, New Problem!

Well, went back to stock jetting and now I can't get the bike to start. Even tried bump starting it, which usually works, but still no luck. When bumping it, it weakly fires up but dies, no matter how much throttle I'm giving it. I'm scratchin my head here. Maybe the 17.5 pilot is too small?

All in ons gauge? Or how about this one?!

Depending on how much you paid for your bike , this was always one of the cheapest options I could find: http://www.dimecitycycles.com/black-acewell-2853-digital-speedometer-and-tachometer.html Another option would be Koso gauges. They're cheaper than most Acewells, but I've heard mixed...
