For Sale - XS400 Seca / Make offer

Thanks Dave. FUnny you mention the line because I picked up the bike in Watertown New York which is quite close to Canada. Worst is that I hold on to it. I love riding it. I actually use it more than my Triumph Sprint ST 1050 :)

For Sale - XS400 Seca / Make offer

I have been working on a good example of an XS400 Seca. It is complete and unmolsted however it does have the wear associated with a used but not abused 30 year old motorcycle. The following has been completed: NOS rear Shock, Fork Seal, Tires, sprockets, chain, plug wires, caps, plugs, valve...

    XS400 monoshock replacement

Hi kmank, Yes you can replace it. Works suspension offers a replacement option. http://www.worksperformance.com/pdf/app_guide/street.pdf Price is $369 for the non adjustable shock which would probably be loads better than the stock damping. You could spend more money getting a custom...

Could it be valve stem oil seals (1980 XS400 4G5)

Also a couple of things. The rubber diaphragms are intact and seated so no leaks? Choke is closing completely? Clean air filter (assuming stock)? Clean petcock screen ?

Could it be valve stem oil seals (1980 XS400 4G5)

Did you do the resistance check on both coils? Do both primary and secondary coils give appropriate readings..like 3 ohms and 9K ohms (or in that neighborhood)? Just curious. I assume they are fine if they are giving a good fat spark. So it fires right up and idles well so it sounds like the...

Could it be valve stem oil seals (1980 XS400 4G5)

I know this is contrary to your oil hypothesis but is it possible the resistor caps on the ends of the wires are bad? Mine had a very similar condition and when I took the plug wires apart I found the ceramic resistor and the spring virtually disintegrated inside the cap. Just a thought and...

Left Fork Lower for Seca400 Dual disc

I have read through some of the posts for the dual disc conversion on an XS400. My question is what other fork lowers will work. I have seen an image of the XS400R as coming stock with dual discs but I have never actually seen one in person. I was thinking maybe the fork lowers form an RZ350...

    Broke my rusty nipple

I feel for you. I have a front caliper with an equally frustrating nipple broken off in it. It is however sans "extra hole" :). I was having a devil of a time with it even with heat, pb blaster etc. it is firmly at home. I drilled a hole very much down the center of it so it would be a good...

    Lowering Shock Mod Seca400

And BTW because the spring on this shock is so soft I just used the wooden clamps you see in the photo to compress the spring to prise out the retainer clips. Of course there are any number of more and less appropriate methods for compressing springs. This is what I did based on tools...

    Lowering Shock Mod Seca400

I have been struggling to get my very short wife to fit on the Seca 400. In an effort to lower the rear of the bike about an inch I did the following: 1. measure relationship between ride height and -1 in. of static rear suspension height. It ends up being about 1/2 inch that needs to be...

    Fork Tube Replacement Resource???

Hi, Still working on my wife's XS400 Seca. It is rebuilt and running well but it needs new fork tubes. I disassembled and found deep pitting which is causing the leakage. I found some on the Race Tech website but they are imported from TNK. 1. Does anyone here have a resource for...

Seca 400 Rebuild New Member Intro

Oh and the brakes. While I await the smaller master, lines etc. I got the old master and lines cleaned and back in service.....God do the stock brakes suck. I had a heritage Special and now its coming back to me....lots of planning ahead before stopping. The new setup should help...

Seca 400 Rebuild New Member Intro

Stayed up late last night and got her bolted back together. Tank clean inside, new fuel filter and just tons of little stuff. The bike was neglected and poorly maintained but not maliciously abused or tinkered with so most everything was a straight forward fix. I did however drain almost 4...

Seca 400 Rebuild New Member Intro

Pics of the anode and the anode in the tank. The foam made it alot easier to place the anode as opposed to trying to support the metal from the neck without it touching any part of the inside of the tank.

Seca 400 Rebuild New Member Intro

Set up the rust removal electrolysis on Friday and let it run until Sunday. Good results. Anode was just a piece of flat steel stock, foam on the end and around the neck acts as an insulator so it does not ground to the tank. Solution was water and baking soda. Result after 2 days was lots...
