    Extracting a broken push rod?

    Long story short, chain broke and wrecked some stuff. Engine case is cracked at the starter, and the push rod for the clutch snapped. Rest of it is in the engine, I need to replace it obviously (anyone in PDX have one) but first I need to get the old one out. Any ideas how to go about it...

    Possibly missing parts...

    So, while attempting to begin my rewiring.. I noticed I was missing a fuse box. And I didn't notice any inline fuses.. So the kid literally had no fuses on the bike what so ever.. So I have a questions. 1) What problems could this of caused, aside from the obvious blown headlight or whatever...

    1981 xs400 Can I go batteryless?

    I've heard rumors that you can make some xs400s go batteryless? I'm just wanting to find more out about it, I understand no electric ignition. Which is fine. Any other draw backs? Like i'm assuming no heated gear, right? Any info is helpful, and what parts would be needed, if any?

    Fixing my 'new' 1981 xs400

    The bike looks to be good... only bad part is the hackjob wiring. The kill switch has been cut or bypassed... either way, going to have fun with the wiring. Pics will come as I inspect the bike.further.

    Is this the right VIN?

    I'm going to possibly be buying a bike today, and the gentlemen told me the VIN is JYA4R4001BA013699 over the phone. Just want to check and see if this is right? Seems kind of long.. But I really don't know how the VINs are done on these bikes.
