    Idle Speed Adjusment

Guys. The Idle speed adjuster screw on a '79 XS400 gets turned in to increase idle speed, right?

    1979 XS400 Handlebars

Greetings All. Could someone please measure the length of the red line in this pic for the stock handlebars from a 1979 XS400? Model years 77-83 should be the same for these high risers. I'm guessing around 6 inches. Thanks for your help.

    XS400 Center Stand

Greetings. I recently bought an1979 XS400F. When the center stand is down the rear tire rests on the floor. The shocks are standard 12.5" eye to eye and the wheels are standard 18" cast aluminum. I suspect the center stand is not stock and too short. Can someone please confirm the length of the...

    1979 XS400 Fork Removal

Yes. This is what I have on the 79 SOHC XS400 I recently acquired. My profile pictures shows an 82 Seca 400RJ I sold last summer. I think that had the slotted top bolts. I got the forks to slide out after I loosened the bottom set of pinch boots. Duh. Thanks guys.

    1979 XS400 Fork Removal

These forks have a rubber cap not a threaded steel cap. I'm gonna try a 1" PVC square head plug as a driver. If that doesn't work I'll remove the top triple clamp as you suggested. Thanks.

    1979 XS400 Fork Removal

Thanks amc49. The wheel is off. I did spread the cut carefully but it hasn't loosened. Should I try a socket as a driver from the top?

    1979 XS400 Fork Removal

Greetings All. I'm having a hard time getting the forks to drop after I removed the clips and pucks from the fork tops. The pinch bolts are completely out. Is there something I'm missing or are they just rust stuck? I squirted PB Blaster around the tops. I don't want to just start pound on them...

    Mikuni BS34 Carb overflow question

Thanks, amc49. Oddly these carbs do not have an overflow port on the bowl.

    Mikuni BS34 Carb overflow question

Thanks, XSChris. I got the same info from another source. I've ordered a rebuild kit. I was just curious as to how the overflow works.

    Mikuni BS34 Carb overflow question

Greeting all. I have Mikuni BS34 carbs on my 1982 Yamaha Seca XS400RJ that don't have an external over flow tube. I don't see anywhere that it would be connected on the carb bodies. I had an overflow incident recently and the air filter was pretty much drenched. Is this typically where the...

    Dead Headlight

Thanks. I just ran a jumper wire from the fuse to the headlight wire on the connector in the headlight bucket. I wasn't able to locate the relay.

    Dead Headlight

I zip tied the jumper wire to the the loam and put flex cover over all of it.

    Dead Headlight

The Blue/Black power wire to the headlight 3 pronged plug connector died who knows where along the main harness. So instead of tearing into it I just made a jumper from the headlight fuse wire directly to the plug connector. That did the trick and everything else remains functional.

    Dead Headlight

Thanks Jeff. Yes. Turn signals and horn work fine. There is power to the dimmer switch. There also is power at the fuse. There is continuity from the LH Switch Assembly wires to the 3-pronged headlight plug but no power. The ground is good. 1.4 Ohms. So I'll have some more checking to do. Seems...
