I don't have a better photo of what the brake situation was like before......but it wasn't pretty.

Quite a nice build as well! Some great fab work in there. I'm not too into the squared off rear end, but I can appreciate the work you did. It looks like it came out really nice! Digging the exhaust on that man! I plan to build a custom stainless exhaust for the bike next summer and put on...

Moaaaar updates. It's been a busy past few weeks but I've still got a decent amount of work done on the Cafe. @TazioliBuilt The rear shocks rod thread are M10x1.50 on mine. I can't say they'll be the same on yours because I can't confirm the shocks on mine are original or not. The bike was...

Thanks very much. I'm looking forward to giving these tires a go. I was debating on these vs some more knobby looking dual-sport tires, but I think I made the right call. Hopefully changing sizes doesn't affect handling too much. Cheers! Honestly man, this 3D printer was one of the best...

Man it's been a LONGGGGGGGGG time since I've got around to updating this thread. I didn't really get much work done over the winter since my garage isn't heated, but I did design a battery/holder as well as a new fuse block. I picked up a 3D printer over the winter and have found many uses for...

    Electrical Questions.

First order of business is to check what kind of voltages you're working with. I don't think the alternator puts out that much jam at idle, but if you're not over 12V at idle then your battery might be the issue. The next thing to check is the voltage when you rev the bike up. If the voltage...

I spent a pretty good chunk of my long weekend working on the bike. Finally made some progress on one of the parts I've been absolutely dreading doing......the electrics pan. I traced out the pattern on some 18GA steel and cut it out. Then I tacked on some tabs to help with the alignment...

Thanks Spectra. Yeah I'm usually not a fan of blacked out wheels, but I think they work here. I would kill a man for a nice set of spoked wheels though.....

It's been a while since I've been able to devote some time to my project...so here's a quick update. Parts are pretty much all here, the only thing I'm still waiting on is the signal lights. I spent a lot of time cleaning up the welds on the rear loop as well as any other places I ground off...

    removing front fork emblem

Can't really bugger things up too much because you'll be sliding the piece up and off the stanchion tubes away from the portion that moves in and out of the lower forks. Mine were a little rusty under the headlight mount, but a little WD40 and some 00 steel wool and it looked like new again.

    removing front fork emblem

There are a couple of bolts on each side, then you should be able to take the top triple clamp off and slide it up and off. It's on there pretty tight with rubber grommets so some soapy water might help it move easier.

lol... sorry man. I LOVEEEEEEE my TIG. I bought it for a stainless exhaust project that I had on my Audi a few years ago, and now you couldn't pry it out of my cold dead hands. I can't go back to MIG.... TIG is just so controllable and clean. Pin-point accurate heat.....no sparks..... <3

After a ton of landscaping this past couple weeks and cleaning up half a tree that blew over in a crazy wind storm we had here last week I finally found some time to work on the bike. Tire clearance with my shocks completely compressed and no bump stops installed. I may end up shortening my...

    Help! Carbs are pissing gas..

Check your needle/seats to make sure they are sealing properly. Another member on here just had a similar issue one one of his carbs and it turned out that his float was full of fuel......causing it to.....not float..... So fuel never got shut off.

I appreciate the input. The bike isn't at it's final setup, it's just loosely mocked up to do the frame modifications. It's also up on the center stand and on a block of wood which makes it look WAY higher than it actually is. I made the spacers for the shocks as long as I thought I could get...

I've been spinning my heels a little with the bike. There are a few things that needed reworking and I was kind of procrastinating like a pro......but I've finally started to make some progress again. Fitted the stock 12.5" shocks in and there's only an inch of clearance to the frame hoop, so...

Thanks Jeff! It's amazing how much different it looks from when I started out. Black wheels, some new rubber, and a new seat really transformed it. Mocking it up has definitely motivated me to hurry up and get this thing back together so I can ride it :)

I chucked the wheels on the bike for a quick mockup with the seat on. She's comin' together! I like where it's headed.
