    Front end rebuild time

So, I was out riding my 81' SH yesterday. Which I have put about 900mi. Since I got it running with little more than a new batt.,new rubber, and a chain! Funny I figured a lot more would need to be done to get her flyin' but so far she has treated me pretty damb good!....ANYWAY..out of nowhere...

New stuff done to the bike.

So it's been a while since I posted anything. So far I have put about 300mi on the bike with no real problems..I have got it up to 70mph on the stock speedo with a slightly larger front tire, so I'm not sure that is entirely accurate. But that was really not pushing it too hard ethier..Needless...

Threading the needle of charging issues...

It's been raining like a bastahd out up here latley and I have been busy with work so I have not been thinking about the bike much. But I will be back on it today. New batt. Seemed to do the trick for now, but I will definitely update everything eventually. Is there any good threads I should...

Threading the needle of charging issues...

Yeah, I went and bought a new battery, it runs great now and starts right up without dying out. So maybe it was the battery. My buddy swears it's just the battery. But I still only get 13v max. At 5,000rpm...manual says I should be seeing like 14-14.5v... If the v-reg. Was toast, what would the...

Threading the needle of charging issues...

Not sure I get what your saying? What should work? I know for sure something is not working, battery will not charge. Only get 12.7v max at up to 5,000rpm...should read like 14.5 + - if charge sys. Is functioning properly. Positive that coils all read right, pretty damb sure rectifier is...

Front brake, what's going on here?

OK, THERE IT IS. ALL CLEANED UP, REBUILT, S.S. LINE. WORKS GREAT. Not the most powerful braking system in the world, but for an 81' I'd say not too bad. This is where this thread ends for me. THANK YOU ALL FOR A TON OF HELP AND GOOD ADVICE. APPRECIATE IT.;)

Threading the needle of charging issues...

Ok guys, here we go again! I know this is another thread that has been posted probably about a MILLION TIMES. So I am just going to say that I did READ THE MANUAL, performed the tests as they say. I did search around on different threads for answers, but it seems that they always start off with...

    MY BIKE!!

TOMORROW IS THE BIG DAY! GONNA PUT THE FRONT BRAKE ON AND GET THAT ALL SQUARED. DO A FINAL ONCE OVER ON THE BIKE TO FINISH ALL THE LITTLE STUFF I GOT LEFT. AND FIRE IT BACK UP. SUPPOSED TO BE SUNNY AND 60DEG. OUT TOO SO THAT HELPS! DO AN OIL CHANGE/FILTER/CLEAN SUMP. AND HOPEFULLY GET SOME...

Ok, got my MC all rebuilt. Went together like butter. AND... I got my chinkie Hong kong MC in the mail today too! So now I gotta figure which one to use... I am tempted to try out the chinkie dinky one, but I will prob. Go with the OEM. Got a S.S. line for it too, so it's gonna look sweet. For...

How to get new brake piston in... Any tricks?

I know for sure it was all correct parts and I was being very careful to push piston in evenly...unless you have hands of steel and was born on planet Kripton you would not get that piston in with hand strength alone. There's no "it'll slide right in" ain't happening. Use a c-clamp CAREFULLY...

Front brake, what's going on here?

Got it in, a c-clamp is man's best friend! Just be careful to apply pressure equally. And the dust boot with new ring went right in. Got it all back together, looks awesome! BEFORE:poo:: AFTER:rock:: BRAKES ARE COMING ALONG NICELY! :bike:

Front brake, what's going on here?

I did decide to just leave them raw. But now I gotta get this new piston in! I am being very careful and only using hand strength, but this is about as far as I can get it in. Using a socket inside the piston so I have something to press down on. Wish I had a small piece of wood and a c-clamp to...

How to get new brake piston in... Any tricks?

Holy crap! Putting my piston in and running into the same problem! And damb I don't have any tools with me like c-clamp. I think carefully using a c-clamp would be the best bet, but by hand....holy crap!!

    MY BIKE!!

Well, I got the bike back together as far as I could. Still need to get air filters and do the front brake rebuild. Getting a shinko 712 130/90×16 into this bike with no mods is a VERY TIGHT FIT! and this chain is a fat one too, so it has nada for clearance. I think I can just barely get away...
