Sold / Found / Inactive - Hard bags, sissy bar, and crash bars for a Special in Minneapolis

Ok. That makes sense. Thanks for posting that. I assume the seat attaches to the sissy bar. Is that correct?

Sold / Found / Inactive - Hard bags, sissy bar, and crash bars for a Special in Minneapolis

I just have the ones I am using for my bike and my buddies bike. I dont have much by the way of spare parts. Yeah I would guess they would fit. I do have a spot on my frame in the back where I suspect it would mount and that part of my frame is broken. I believe it is a mounting spot for the...

Over revvvvvvv... like full throttle at idle

Wow that is pretty scary. Considering the age of these motorcycles I might just drive in the prime position without the petcock vac line also. Something to consider.

Over revvvvvvv... like full throttle at idle

Check for leak around the carb boots by spraying carb cleaner in that area.

Crazy High RPM after revving the engine

Spray carb cleaner around the boots when it is idling high. If that brings the isle down then you have leaking boots. When you say you rebuilt that carbs I assume that means you replaced the butterfly shaft seals. Is that right? If not then you should speak carb cleaner around the shaft area...

    REGULATOR fixed carry used spares!!!

I would say you need to look at the specs of your combination unit to see what should go where and then connect the appropriate wires. I myself have stock so I don't know anything about combo units so I am just kinda guessing here.

    My XS400 "restore"

Thanks for the input. What I was thinking about doing was basically returning it back to its bones. So I guess you don't think it would really look right to clean and paint everything that needs painting. I am thinking all the way down to the frame.

    My XS400 "restore"

Hey xschris. I am looking to refurb this bike really well. Do you have suggestions if I can paint the speedo and tach covers and make then looks close to original? I was also thinking maybe strip then and powder coat them also as an option. Your thoughts?

    Throttle tube!!

Thanks xschris. I superglued my tube back together but maybe ultimately I will replace it. I have some cleanup of glue on the inside of the tube to do so that it slides smoothly over the bar and rotates freely while on the bar. If I do decide to replace it I will reach out. Thanks again!

    New bike for a friend

xschris you are a professional here. I opened it up and I thought man this looks great... the old one showed surface rust and such and I assume the one on my bike also shows surface rust... now I am thinking I should open mine up and inspect clean and lube it up good just like this one. This...
