    For Sale - 1979 xs400 carb set bs34

Will these fit/function on an 81’ xs400SH? The previous owner had an aftermarket set on and they broke when I was trying to get a stuck screw out. These look like the set in the Haynes manual.

Do you still have the set of BS-34 carbs? I have an 81’ xs400SH Heritage model I believe. I think this is the right one.

    1981, runs but needs work

Could you post a photo or video to show what you mean? The guy before me messed around with the wiring so i bet it’s the same issue as yours.

    1981, runs but needs work

I bought some cleaning vinegar from Home Depot a while back and it worked great for an old lawn mower tank I had. Thanks for the info, I’ll give it a try.

Thanks for the info. It already has a manual petcock so is it better to disassemble and clean or replace?

    1981, runs but needs work

I was planing on removing the tank to clean it and coat it since the inside is kinda rusty but not terrible. Eventually I’ll go through everything just to be sure. I just wanted to know what to look for ahead of time since it’ll be sitting on my patio when I start. I’m not doing anything to...

    1981, runs but needs work

Thanks for the tips. I don’t have any replacement parts yet or a vacuum balanced. Would it be better to wait or just strip it down and clean anyway?

    1981, runs but needs work

I recently bought a 1981 xs400. Rode it 2hrs home but it died a few times on the way. I think it was running on one cylinder. I was able to get to 80mph but then I could only hear engine sounds on the left side and my speed dropped to 45-50 then like 35 and I couldn’t go any faster. It backfires...
