    Progressive spring install question

yes thats exactly what i did. I went off some threads from here to get the model number other guys used, and just went with it. They are a motherf*cker to get in. But they work well. I need help from a friend, I compressed the spring with the cap and he got the clips on. The seat pressure on...

Raask rearsets- anyone else struggling with them?

I bought these from Raask directly. They suck. Now that i have them, I feel stuck with them. Sivert is less than useful when trying to get any support at all. Looking to see if anyone else has had similar issues with them, and what their solutions were. The shifter side rearset fits fine, but...

77 Charging issues- help with stator

I moved on to the regulator. For some reason, my bike has a 7 wire regulator on it. The OEM one I believe was 5 wires. Can someone confirm this for me? The diagram shows the regulator and rectifier as 2 separate components. My bike does not have an OEM harness in it, so I have nothing to compare...

77 Charging issues- help with stator

I just checked both the stator, and field coil. The field coil measured dead on at 4 ohm between the 2 green wires... i was 4.2 ohm The stator itself, i believe i also measured dead on. On the stator side of the connector, I have 4 wires. On the regulator rectifier side I have 3. This also...

77 Charging issues- help with stator

Just finished my cafe, and shakedown run definitely did not go as planned... had to uber home and fetch bike later. Voltage is not coming up when bike is running / RPM is increased. Bike is only running off battery. Started with the stator. It passed (seemingly) both static tests. I had...

XS 400 cafe racer style...ish build

I wanted to bring this back and ask what you did with the kickstart on your bike to get it to clear the Raask rearsets? On mine it does not clear the peg, even in the folded up position. Sivert seemed to think that maybe a different kickstarter would clear... but couldn't recall what model

There is a bolt that goes through the rear caliper into the trailing arm on the swingarm. It is a funky bolt, and no longer available through Yamaha. Threads are trashed on mine. Do you have it

    Progressive spring install question

cool man thanks. I was reading some threads last night, and no-one has mentioned having any concerns with the longer spring length, so I'm going to go with them. BTW- your build is great.

    Progressive spring install question

For you guys that have run Progressive springs in the early bikes (mine is a '77), what did you do about the length difference in the springs. I absolutely do not want to cut the springs, but have concerns that the retaining clip for the fork cap wont retain the cap because of the increased seat...

Brought home a XS cafe... need hel getting to fire

I've been working through some issues with it, I'm almost to the point where I trust the bike enough to put some road miles on it. And the DMV's here in NJ are starting to open, so I can actually register it. Clutch was slipping badly, between a mix of the wrong oil, and friction plates missing...

if you are doing BC/CC, you can totally color sand your base before ever hitting it with clear. If you miss the flash period, you should color sand it before hitting it with clear. I try to always color sand it before I clear.
