    Slow oil leak underneath

As far my experience with the bike goes, it was a livable situation. When I had to get the bike recertified for a safety inspection the mechanic didn't even mention it, and he's a thorough guy.

    Slow oil leak underneath

Hi, no I didn't get it fixed. There is another detailed, related thread linked on this thread that you may want to investigate. I actually sold my xs400 to a friend, so I'm sure he'll be interested in diagnosing this issue at some point. I'll be directing him back to this forum. I also realized...

    Slow oil leak underneath

Hi all, This is the second season I've been riding the xs400 81' special and since I've had the bike, I've been observing small oil drips (dime-sized) gathering underneath it. When I've gone to inspect in the past, it has been too grimy to determine the origin of the leak, but recently, I was...

    XS400 Throttle play

As suggested, the issue was with the cable routing. After finally getting around to taking off the gas tank (for a carb clean :O ), I was able to re-route it and the issue is gone. Thanks!

    XS400 Throttle play

Thanks for the explanation! So I started the bike up today with the throttle play adjustor in the position I posted (pic above) and the bike was idling up to 4k RPM! I'll have to look at the manual to understand how these two components work in conjunction. Thank-you for the explanation!

    XS400 Throttle play

The free play is the only adjustment I was looking to make here, since the engine is only revving while turning the wheel to the right side. How does the thumbscrew to adjust the rpm affect the free play? I thought that one was for the idling rpm.

    XS400 Throttle play

Hi all, First post here . Looking forward to sticking around. So I recently purchased a well-maintained 1981 xs400 from my friend. It has undergone safety certification and I've hit the road a few times now. While in neutral though, I noticed while turning the handlebars to the far right, the...
