    Hot Damn Carb Cleaning!

the harbor fright ones fit a whole carb body even after it's stripped of bowls and vac tower hats. You can do two, half and half and most of the components in about 4 separate batches. Better than not at all but it's kinda a pain.

Anyone playing with a XS400 - Seca or Maxim - DOHC?

have a pair of XS400R's queued up in my to-do list. Between the two I have enough parts for about 1.8 whole bikes. Figure one clean OEM one and one mean lil ripper with some aftermarket bits (for examble of the two I only have one good left and one good right exhaust so the "bad twin" will get...

    Accurate Specs of Bike

Here's a site I refer to when I come across something "fairly common" that I aint seen before or need a reminder. Link goes straight to 400 seca (I have a pair in the works) but you can surf around. They don't really have write-ups for every single year as many years saw no changes but should...

How to make a bottle style manometer.

drewpy, I don't see why not. they already have holes in em right? rubber stoppers: ace has them, lowes has them, home depot has them, you name it. I used the little bottles from Preval spray kits. check your rig before use with a vacuum brake bleed tool or other single vac source hooked to...

The lower you go, the better it feels.

ah man, the seca is the hot one and they only made it for two years. can't you get one of those SOHC's to carve up? :D As for trimming front springs I'd recomend offsetting the bars or running clip ons and just dropping the tubes down in the trees. You're gonna want all the spring rate you can...

    82-83 XS400R YICS tool?

yeah making one is the plan I guess. Actually with concern for melting the tubing and all that I'm inclined to go the route of stuffing in oil-damp strips of cloth. I'm presently mulling over the problem from the ground up, picking my brain and yall's to see if there's a better answer based on...

    82-83 XS400R YICS tool?

ok so I've got a hole in my head and it's SUPPOSED to be there. In fact, my XJ experience tells me it's a wonderful thing even if it requires an uber rare tool made from unobtanium to vacuum sync the carbs. Now that someone passed me two bikes that sure seem like my old XJ got sliced down the...

    Rear suspension adjustment - 82 XS400

allen wrench is generally easiest thing to stick in the hole since it's bent you can weasel it in even if the hole is in an awkward spot (towards the wheel). If you had your wheaties today you can do it by hand.

Make Offer - Parting out an 1982-83 Seca 400

Ihaolpa, since they only made the xs400R for two years, YES everything fits from one year to the other. Dcopp, oh I need stuff, it's just that the baby Seca good twin, bad twin project is number 3 or 4 on my shopping/to do list. If you haven't managed to unload it by the time I get around to it...

    Hello from seattle

well, all I'm doing THIS weekend is slinging new (used) discs on my 750 and if all goes well changing bars, brake master cylinder and upping to SS lines. my 400's are a PAIR of XS400R (baby) secas. one an 82, one an 83. My plan for the project(s) is to take all best parts from each and make one...

    Hello from seattle

well... if you had asked last saturday I would say 100% sure. I rarely miss one. Aged rotors finally took a dump on me last sunday though. I'd been meaning to replace for a long time as well as do some other brake upgrades. One of those things where I have been picking up parts here and there...
