    For Sale - 78 2E

Awakened from it's winter slumber on this 60 degree day. Points are cleaned up and ready for a full summer of riding (depending on mileage I suppose). On its 2nd speedometer - broken,,,,also on 2nd tach. December of 2017 took it for a chilling cold ride and the odometer cracked falling inward...

yes! old school points filing, sanding, cleaning, gapping, cleaning then timing. The timing gun itself is "missing" - oldschool again, it was my dad's from the 70's Greasy garage camera doesn't autofocus. Concerning the timing adjustment, as once sagely noted by one notable member (paraphrasing...

    For Sale - 78 2E

Appreciate the question and good answer Chris! 1978 400E with restyled teardrop early-80's looking tank, the 2E was a carryover/leftover of the 1977 400D, offered at a bargain. Like the magazine ad said "The XS400-2E isn't cheap, it just costs less." It has no starter (or starter...

You may be an XS400 owner...

. . . if you clean and fix your carbs only to develop carb issues . . . if you adjust the carbs with the tank propped up then see that the tripmeter has 100 miles on it . . . if you have an ongoing, never-ending "I hate this thing" / "I love this thing" relationship . . . if you have at...

Battery fully charged but no power.

Good luck with the wiring mess. If you just got a new battery keep it charged up every now and then (or trickle charger left on it) to not waste a perfectly good battery. If you started "with getting [just any old used] battery", batteries will lose their acidity with time and it can be charged...

    Carb Cleaning Product and Diaphragms

I have your answer(s), haha :) I don't think I will be hanging out at this GoldWing forum for a few years  . . . but always opinions to be found. I wouldn't use it if you have gone to the trouble of disassembling the carbs and getting them CLEAN. Why bother using crap in your fuel...

    petcock question

This is the diagram for my particular bike; the vacuum line is behind and above (part 31). I run it across the underside of the fuel tank, with the flimsy tab on the tank to hold it there. It ends up going straight down toward the right intake boot and you really need to use a small spring...
