Drewpy, huh? What is the deflection?? No I loosened up the axle nut and put the cotter pin back in. What adjusters on either side? I am really not stupid, just extraordinarily confused.
Ok so I found out that my chain was loose 2 days ago. I tightened it up and now it sounds like it is rubbing. I don't think that either the chain or the nut on the axle is too tight, so it may be the chain needing oil. What do you think?
Smell the oil. Does it smell like gas at all?? If it does smell like gas, change the oil. That should keep it running for a while. Use diesel oil. If this is all the case, you may have a leaky petcock.

I agree with thlillyr, although I have a question as well. How do we rejet the main jets? Can we do them on the bike? Do we have to tear things apart to get to them?
Is the ignition shock happening on the frame under the tank as well? I wonder if you have an ignition coil shorting out onto the frame and travelling up to the handlebars? Sounds like it could be the left coil pick-up shorting out and drawing more amperage into and through the left side...
