No that should be fine have you checked your charging system? And I know it a stupid question but if you are hooked straight to the high beam (or both high and low) are you sure you are using the correct ground terminal on the lamp? :shrug: Posted via Mobile

Pin gauges would be the proper way but you probably don't have them. If you have a set Of tiny drill bits you can use the shaft side like you would feeler gauges slide them in and the one that slides in snugly without binding or being forced is the size :shrug: Posted via Mobile

Check the mounting and the connections if the light is loose or getting excessive vibrations ( bad motor mounts/ wheel out of balance etc) it will kill your light quickly. I've also found that if the connections to the bulb are loose that can burn up lights too. 12-14 volts is normal and...
