    Rear Disc Conversion/Rearset Addition

I felt part of making the bike a bit more safe, and better looking (to me at least) is doing a complete disc conversion. In actuality, my front drum was almost nonexistant and the rear was getting close. I mean, I needed to buy new drum shoes, so I figured I'd just put that money towards a...

    Great Source for Parts!!

    Rear Drum to Disk Conversion

Ok, I thought I had all the parts I needed for this, but perhaps not. I have the rear mag, disc, I'll be using the rearsets from an R6, blah, blah, blah. Anyhow, I'm mocking up the wheel and it looks as if I need different spacers. I didn't get the spacers for a mag wheel and it looks like...

    Rear Caliper Carrier Mods

Moving forward with my rear drum to disc conversion...my god is this carrier bulky and ugly looking. Has anyone taken out some material from this thing to make it a bit slimmer and less obtrusive? Maybe some speed holes or slots? I'm not sure how much torque is on this, but I've seen smaller...

    Bearing Sleeve/Spacer Clarification

Hey guys, it's been about 6 months since I took my rear wheel apart and now I can't remember how the spacers and sleeve fit together. This guy: He slides completely into the larger bearing?

    Rear Caliper Compatibility

I need a rear caliper. There are tons available for the 650, 750, and 850, but I'm not sure if the actual caliper itself will work in the stock 400 caliper holder. I've checked boats.net, but it looks as if the holder and caliper are treated as an assembly, and given the different axle...

Did I just screw my wheel up?

So, I'm removing the bearings so I could powder coat the wheel, and I see what looks to be a rubber seal. Ok, pull it out. Um... Do I need that 100%

Silly Question?? Clean looking hose clamps?

I hate the look of the traditional hose clamps, especially on smaller diam tubing, like fuel line. Does anyone have any ideas on something a little less bulky and a little more elegant?

Anyone in Florida/Georgia? Need to borrow TCI unit

So I still have an issue when the bike gets wet. Runs like crap until whatever is wet dries. The right side misfires and sometimes doesn't fire at all. I've swapped the coils, plug wires/boots and plugs but the problem is still the same, so that leads me to believe it's maybe the TCI unit...

    Fork Upgrade Musings

Ok, so I def want to upgrade to a more modern fork setup, partly for looks, partly for stopping power/performance. I recently snagged a good deal on a set of 2004 GSX-R600 fork tubes. So here’s what I'm thinking. I’ve been researching triple trees and bearing and tube diameters and crap so I...

    Headlight relay/not working

Ok, not getting voltage to the headlight. Tested the high/low switch, no power there. Followed the blue/black stripe wire back to what I assume is the relay. This: The red/yellow stripe wire has power, so I went ahead and jumped the red/yellow to the blue/black, but I still don't have power to...

    Gear Lever/Selector Compatibility

My current gear lever has lots of play in it and based on the angles of it, hits my exhaust when I shift down. I found this: http://compare.ebay.com/like/200654319022?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y All I really care about is where it slips on to the splined gear...

    Intro and Questions 1982 XS400

Hey guys. I just recently bought an 82 XS400 as a rebuild project for my son and I. This will be my 3rd bike, but the first one where I've messed with the carbs. I know right off I have bad diaphragms, which have been ordered from JBM, so given that, I decided to go ahead and tear them down...
