    Restricted XS400 DOHC 1983

That was the most noticeable upgrade. You can see from the graph. That at higher rpms TID12-07 (part nr. 12R-10 #622) ignition angle is constant. But keep in mind, that to get more power air/fuel mixture flow must be increased. So 12R intake boots are a must upgrade :)

    Restricted XS400 DOHC 1983

Found old pictures from my archive. As you can see 12E intake boots are very restrictive. Also the best performance upgrade was the ignition module swap (plug and play). With restricted module engine was really struggling to rev high enough. After swap, engine easily hit 10k mark at load and...

    Restricted XS400 DOHC 1983

I'm also dealing with derestriction of my bike (12E) I'm half way there :D On restricted version the exhaust camshaft has marking (E) engraved. Also Check your ignition module. There are two versions available.

What did you do with your XS today?

Changed HT wires and plug caps. This easy operation turned into jumping around bike and swearing like sailor (DOHC folks will understand)

What did you do with your XS today?

What did you do with your XS today?

Cleaned and rebuilt front fork. Put new oil seals and boots with some fresh oil. Oil level was so low I managed to get 0,3L from both tubes. And both tubes had oil in different collors (green/black). That might explain why frontend seemed mushy and bottomed out at breaking/bigger pothole :banghead:

Left side running hotter, right running cooler

Bad butterfly seals might cause vacuum leak and engine will be running leaner (especially on idle). As Xschris said 2-3 turns should be OK. That is a good benchmark to start. For finer adjustment I usually use ''dead cylinder'' method. These settings may vary from bike to bike, and that is why...

What did you do with your XS today?

Put back side covers after repairing them. At first I wanted to paint them in the same color as tank and tail, but after putting them on. I kind of like the way it looks now with black primer coat on :)

What did you do with your XS today?

Take a look at these links. TCI rebuild (there is no need to cut hole in cover... just unsolder 10pins that go to connectors) some tips for TCI This summer I also had some problems with TCI. Had cold solder joint somewhere on circuit board. Cleaned board and resoldered all connections...
