Well hello again i am back just a little update and will add pics again of where i am now paint project did not happen :shrug: but oh well there is always next year!! i did get the seat done and the grab bar put on over the winter like i said i was doing polish is going to start...

just take the bike to the locksmith, 4 numbers on top of the barrel will make you a key no problem, as for the title i dont know some times it can be a lot of red tape to get a new one , nice find by the way

get a can of starter fluid and try spraying it around the boots that hold the carb to the motor when its running if the revs go up your best bet will be replace the boots i got mine for around $35 on ebay if it stays the same try the air intake side

almost ran out of gas today switched it to res and made it to get fuel 3.5 gal later looked at how many miles i had done from last fill up 66 miles now to find the problem 66 miles on a tank with no leaks WTF ?

did you have a look at the contacts on the bad blinker ? might just need a good cleaning

79 ftw i payed $125 for mine but it came with the added problems trying to find the parts to get her back to stock it can be done and last month got mine on the road again for the first time in 13 years last inspection sticker was 1999 if it is all there and is in mint as the owner says...

well got a new to me grab bar for the old girl been missing one the whole time i have had her but test fitted and looking good .... well it will if i ever finish with the polish

still love the ride of the old xs400 but soon a grab bar will be getting fitted soon . sly409 is selling me the one from his 79 still working on polish just to grt her looking as good as i can need some idea's on paint i know i want to go along the midnight blue and silver two tone...

well got to talking to a old h-d guy today who said one of his first new bike he got was a xs400 way back when offerd me $750 to take the old girl off my hands this afternoon nope not going to happen when i took off after letting him take her for a ride i left the kick stand down and about...

what i did what pull them apart and gave them a good clean rotors was ok so i just change the pads and fluid to fix my problem with them now i can trust them better to be safe then think they are ok and come to find out when you need them they don't work like they should

if you want to sell the grab bar let me know :) been looking for one to go on my 79
