I'm currently dealing with the wiring on my bike so can give some insight here. Mine is an 82 special heritage. The starter relay gets its power from the red/white wire from the main fuse. The ground comes from the start switch on the blue/white wire. I had the same issue with not enough wires...

You'll have to do a compression test to see if it's worn rings. If the compression is lower on that side than the other, put some trans oil in the cylinder and see if the compression comes up, if it does you have worn rings.

The oil level is good and clean

So I put pod filters on my bike and put a half inch breather filter on the spot that had the breather tube that went to the intake tubes. Now there is smoke comin from the filter. If the engine has some blowby that's fine with me, I was just wondering if anyone else has run into this.

Ya 125 main jet is tiny I'm runnin a 150 right now because of my pod filters but I've heard 145 is a very common size for these bikes to run well

i just changed the oil and it was fine as long as you didnt run it while the gas was in the crankcase it should have settled to the bottom and come right out with the oil. If the gas was left in the crankcase long enough it could start eating up the gaskets but it should be fine. Changing it is...

I'm lookin for more top end speed from my 82 xs400sh and was wondering which sprockets people have tried and how much MPH they gained. I don't mind sacrificing low end for some more speed. Also are these bikes safe at higher speeds (over 75-80 mph).

there are cheap rebuild kits on ebay and it's not hard to do if it's old just rebuild probably needs it anyway

Ok I got it. I must have had an xs650 rotor. I got the xs400 rotor from ebay and everything fits like a charm. Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks for he help guys I ordered an xs400 rotor from ebay. I'll let you know how it works out. The guy I got the wheels from had a 650 too I guess that's where this rotor came from.
