Mounting left hand brake disc to front wheel.

Sorry about that. I do not know who I had you confused with.

Mounting left hand brake disc to front wheel.

If your wheels are like mine there is a black plastic piece that you need to remove first. Looking at your pic in the other thread I do not think you have the mounts for the caliper on the left side. If what I am seeing is correct you would need to find an early left side fork leg.

    electric start clicks then nothing...

My bike did that when I bought it. The starter solenoid just clicked when the button was pushed. A new starter solved the problem.

I like the look of that mini shield. Can I ask where you bought it?

    Seafoam

I had a 50/50 methanol and distilled water injection kit on my 500 hp STI. When we tore the block down at 19,000 miles the valves, pistons, and combustion chambers looked like they did when the engine was built, perfectly clean. If our bikes would run with no air filters spraying a...

    Hello from Oregon, new member

I joined your group last night. Looks like most of you are in central Oregon. Anyway looks like a nice group. You have changed the look of you bike way more than I have and spent a lot less money. I like the look of that tail piece.

    Seafoam

I have never used Seafoam. However I have used General Motors upper engine and fuel injector cleaner on an old Chevy 454 that had been sitting for a while. I used the vacuum hose method and it cleaned out the gunk really well. Bits of carbon were flying out the exhaust pipe and the truck ran...

What did you do with your XS today?

I finally got some time to fit my H4 conversion headlight. I really had to mess with the wires to make room in the bucket. I hope the extra light is worth it

    Introduction and Cafe build log

I like the silver sides, they do look like they need a decal or something though. If it was me I would look for something that goes along with your fighter plane theme before I painted them. I do not have any help on your wobble issue. I have only heard of it happening when you drop the forks...

My XS250 up to 400 inside

I love the look of your bike, especially the seat.

What did you do with your XS today?

Bought a H4 conversion head lamp and some led taillights to make the bike a bit safer at night, or at least easier to see.

How to rebuild your leaky or starving petcock

Now I know why my petcock gave me so many problems when I first bought the bike. It has no spring in it. I am glad I bought a whole other petcock after I attempted to rebuild the original one. I guess the previous owner had given the rebuild a go and lost the spring.

    Head Lamp

You do not need to change the brake light housing, just the bulbs in it. Look on ebay, amazon or www.superbrightleds.com to find replacement led bulbs to fit your housing.

    Xs400 enduro/hybrid

Done. I really like that TX650 but your build is more original and to me cooler.

Is there a how to on starter replacement?

I can see what you guys are saying and it makes sense. However I am dealing with a woman here. Logic does not come into play, everything is feelings. She has decided that she does not want to use the kick starter. I guess it's a good thing that she only plans on riding with me so i can start her...

Is there a how to on starter replacement?

Thanks, but it has a starter now so it shouldn't be a problem.

Is there a how to on starter replacement?

Finally got around to doing this. It is possible to replace the starter without removing the carburetors. It is a fiddly job but it can be done. The hardest part for me was getting the starter bolts back in. Lining it up with a flashlight in your mouth when you can't really see the holes is...

Looking for more speed from a sprocket

Sorry for the late reply. I was mistaken, the bike is a six speed and I thought it was a five. So it hits 80 in fifth but wont hold that speed in sixth. Don't listen to me as I do not know what I am talking about.

    Is my bike correct?

You are right, it is a six speed. The previous owner told me it was a five and I just believed him.
