    None on this.

    FZR600 Yamaha Blaster

Very slick. I'm thinking about doing the same swap into a Raptor 660 frame. Did you run into any issues with cooling?

    XS400 ATV

The tank can pretty much be the same size as the stock tank cover. It just can't dip between the frame tubes like the stock tank did. I don't have an A/C tig so it will have to be steel.

    XS400 ATV

It's warming up outside so I started working on this again. I'm just worried about losing some low end torque. I have access to a lathe so I could always cut some custom flanges. I'll have to think about this a bit. In other news, rolling the front half of the frame back fixed all rear...

    XS400 ATV

It's been way too cold to work in the garage. I have been thinking about the exhaust a bit... There is a very cool build on this site with a XS400 motor in a enduro. In that build they used 1.5 inch OD pre-bent exhaust tube from Summit Racing for headers. They only cost 13 bucks and kept...

    XS400 ATV

A lot is left to do. I am using this build as practice so I'm making sure not to rush myself. Tonight I cut the front half the frame to add caster back to the a-arm mounts. I fully cut the frame near the front fuel tank mounts. I then slotted the top of the lower frame tubes. I used a...

Small update. All lower mounts are mocked up.

    XS400 ATV

It's really a hard frame to start with, but it's also good practice. Depending on what I do for a fuel tank I may end up tweaking the rear sub frame to fix the seat height. I checked out your build photos on the other site. I would bring up the pivot points for sure. Due to the swing arm...

    XS400 ATV

I haven't decided where I want to set the pivot height yet. The main issue is that the motor can not really be put between the frame rails without looking odd. With the larger four cylinder XJ550 I was able to drop the oil pan between wider frame rails. The XS400 motor is pretty much flat...

    XS400 ATV

So what's everyone's view on the rear lift? Do I just make a block that simulates extending the shock and weld that into the swing arm?

    XS400 ATV

Slick, I am going to check it out. Here is my build from a few years ago http://www.blasterforum.com/threads/xj550-blaster.29934/ Quick note about the tank: You will notice the Blaster frame has an odd setup where the sub frame tubes on one side curve in and the other side curves out...

    XS400 ATV

I looked your build posts. Very nice work. I'm slowly trying to build up my fab skills. I don't yet trust myself to build something for the road. I value any input I get. I need to work on the following issues: -I am going to need to relocate (or I should say extend) the rear lower...

    XS400 ATV

Fixed the gap in the rear frame tubes. Welded in the stock XS400 upper rear motor mount. Made lower rear mounts.

    XS400 ATV

You know.. I was just thinking about that with the seat frame. It's hard to see from the picture, but the frame is notched on the bottom right where the oil filter would be on the 400 motor. This allowed me to bend the frame down in the rear. So for now it's only lower to the ground...

    XS400 ATV

I'm not sure yet. Too much lift in the rear can make the seat lean forward.

Great project. Sorry for the late post. I found my answer.

    Just bought a 77 XS360 - First project bike!

I don't believe you will need to change all that much. I have noticed that just the right kind of tires and a set of bars alone can set a bike off pretty well.

    Not shifting

Like Wolf 11B said, it became disconnected when the shift shaft was moved inboard. By chance I saw your post this morning and I happened to be doing a teardown of a XS400 motor tonight so I made you a video for you. You might be able to do this without removing the clutch cover. Don't...

    Torque wrenches.

Snap-on does make great stuff, but other than their basic forged tools most of it is re-branded or outsourced... not necessarily overseas, just not made by Snap-On. For a good wrench I would look into Precision Instruments. They made almost all of Snap-on's torque wrenches up until a few...
