Dave, do you know the eye sizes on the stock shock? I am planning on replacing mine (83 Maxim) with one from a Yamaha XJ600? Assuming the shock fits, can you think of any reason why I shouldn't?

I have an 83 Maxim. So the box just behind my carbs is my air filter box, correct? What about the "filter" below it shown in the picture. Is that also an air filter and if it is not, what is it? I see a lot of bikes in this forum with "pod filters" replacing the box. They do look cool but...

I took out my gas tank for the purpose of completely emptying it so I can put in fresh gasoline. I am having a hard time getting all the liquid out of the tank (via the main opening)? Any tips on this? Also, I want to replace my rubber fuel line and fuel filter. For southern Ontarians...
