Be sure it's the fuel and not the CDI unit. On my 81 after 5 min of running it would run on one cylinder, Wait a few min and it runs for another 5. Bought a replacement unit on Ebay. Now have 53,000 miles on it...

One thing I would do is make sure the points are clean, run strips of clean white paper between the contacts of the points until the paper is clean. Also check for air leaks in the rubber carb mounts via cracks.

I went to Walmart and bought a 7in halogen for 8 bucks. Modified the chrome ring to hold the headlight. Bright and cheap.
