1981 XS400 Special II Cafe Racer Build

i like they way your building this.. just curious to see your single carb .. are you gonna use a different carb or use one for the old 2?

I will post some pics and details once I get the intake. I am using one of the stock carbs, heard bad things about using the stock carb but I am going to start with the stocker and if it doesnt work I will look into buying a different carb.

Exhaust powder coated, and i picked up a 1970 Honda CL350 for my next project. I want to make a Girl with the dragon tattoo clone bike. The pic makes it look better than it is ! Very rough shape.

those exhaust on the cl350 say retro scrambler to me like the new Triumph's but better, so i guess the Hammer Head Jackpine.

Well my painter snapped these pics, Unfortunately I wanted "Corvette Cyber Grey Metallic" Not the same silver as I used on my CB350F. Its a shame cause the paint looked so good ! He is going to redo it in cyber grey so hopefully in the end it will be killer.

With the big tires and longer shocks I had to lengthen my kickstand. I added 3 inches and it probably could have used another inch or so. Took a couple better pics of the bike, its all ready for the painted tank / seat. Hopefully my intake will be here at the end of the week too.

I used an XT side stand and had to shorten it for the Tracker.

Hey Guys, I am new to the XS400 forum and thought i would share my xs400 special II cafe build. Check out my do the ton link for all the details to date. Installing a Benjies Cafe Dolphin tank / seat combo, ordered it for an xs650 so we will see how much frame modification will be needed for it to fit. I will need to relocate the coils for sure...

maybe try low to high, I love how pipes look on cafe's that angle up on each side. Just a thought, loos like itll be a damn cool bike!

Changed the speedo placement yet again after lowering the headlight. Had to hack up the speedo mount for a third time. I think I have it where I want it finally. Also shortened the kick starter to fit the pipes.
