today I started with some minor repairs like front brake light indicator, horn and turns controlers, after that I started adjust carbs, but, where i can found main and pilot jet on this carbs? Can someone identify them..? I don't know if they are bs34, or 38.. Iam lost guys.. :)

also i noticed some cracks on floats, do I need buy new one, or can I use my old one from xs 400 4G5? 4G5 have plastic floats, but on 14U are from brass..?

thanks, Ondrej

Pilot jets are in the bowls. The pilot jets that your bike uses where only used in the 76-77 xs360 and 76-77 xs750. The xs400 jets are NOT the same and the floats are different also. I the the floats from the 70's xs650 with the bs38's will work. I would show you pics of the difference but not near my parts now. Nice bike:thumbsup: Found a few pics in my albums:) the xs360 jet is on the right. The other is 77-82 sohc xs 400. You can't swap the two.

ok xschris, thanks for reply! it's little bit lame of me, but can you make some marks in my picture and show me where exactly main and pilot jets are? Because I don't know what you mean with "bowls".

I read this topic, where you mention, that you are using standart jets with KN pods, do you think that i can use them too, without rejeting..?

These are the bowls and where they go. Also the difference between the xs400 and xs360 floats, the xs400 are the ones on top. These are the filters I used for the standard jetting. They are very hard to find as I think they stopped selling them in the early 80's. Also don't forget to replace the o-ring on the needle jets after you clean the carbs.

Thanks for pics chris, I really appreciate it. Now it's clear. I will to fix floats next weekend. But maybe i have bigger issue than floats.. :/ maybe is just old battery, but i guess there is something wrong with charging. I did small test ride today, and after about 700meters bike died under half gas, same thing after 15mins of trying to start it, i start it, ride it about 100meters and done.. After that i put down tank and found this conector, what is it..?

What color are the wires that go to that connector? If you look at the wiring diagram in the manual it will tell you what it goes to. If your floats have cracks in them they will fill with fuel and the bike will flood with gas causing it to stall:wink2: Fix the floats before you ride or run the bike more. Check the volts in the battery to see if is charging. You should get 14.5 at 5k rpms.

back from work, time to play!

wires from the connector are:

first line, 3wires:
Green white-Green white-Red yellow

second line, two wires:
black, brown wire

do you know what is it..? I have only very bad image quallity manual about bike, so I almost can't read the wire scheme

chris, maybe Iam wrong, but I have european restricted version -20kW, so I guess that size of jets aren't same in my bike..

I can't find and wires in the diagrams with a green white or a red yellow wire. As for jetting I am not sure about the "restricted" bikes as none where ever sold here in the u.s. http://www.xs400.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4466 Maybe try this thread on the wiring and also take a few more good pics of the connector which may help someone with a xs360 figure it out. To me it looks where the signal relay would go.
