    Hi all,

So I've ripped apart my maxim to convert it into a café racer. Is there a gas tank that would work with my frame? The stock tank isn't really a café racer type. Im thinking cb500 tank? any thoughts?

Something that will just bolt on?

Yes, something that will bolt on without any heavy mods.

Apparently, it's an awkward fit due to the thickness and angle of the frame, however, I do recall reading on here a couple of years ago about one or two successful swaps. I think one was a Kawasaki tank, though I am not sure. Try using the Google search window (top left corner).
Probably a Seca 400 tank would fit since the frame is the same, however, that might not be any better for you style-wise.
If you do make a change, be sure to offer up your Maxim tank for sale in the Classifieds section on here. There is always someone looking for one that isn't perforated or badly rusted.
