air fuel mix problems

Old hard rubber parts won't seal well. It is a good idea to replace them.

no xschris should i replace the rubber pluds

I'm sorry if I'm behind the curve here, but did you indicate that the rubber plugs were in place, but not new, or are they not in place? I know several people rebuild the carbs and choose not to put the plugs back on, but they are needed.

When you replace the o-rings make sure to get the old ones out as I have seen people stack 2 or three in there. Also be sure to assemble in the proper order.

so just pulled the spark plugs and cleaned then off, put them back in fired her up and let her idle for 5 min. i did not touch the throttle. shut her off and pulled the plugs agian blacker then black. no matter what i do she wont lean out. anybody?:banghead::wtf::confused:

Ok, you have 42.5 pilot jet in it. Stock needle and needle jet assembled correctly. 135 mains and the floats set at 26mm and mix screws set at 2 turns out. If this setup runs rich there is something else wrong. Does the bike smoke? Take some pics of the carbs and how you put it together.

Xschris, i have 35 pilot, stock needle and a 135 main, i have tryed it with the screw at every setting i can and it dose not seem to help. it dose smoke a little but its every light colored. i just put the mix screw fully closed and she is still running rich, i pulled the screw and it still looks good and pointy.

The pilot jets should be 42.5 not 35:confused: When the screws are all the way down the bike should not run or be extremely lean. You need to take some pics of the jets and how you assembled the carb.

I am also wondering if you have VM pilot jets instead of BS jets witch should be in there:confused:

sorry xschris you are right 42.5 pilots. here are the pis i think i got everything you could need but let me know and i will take more.

The carbs still look to be a bit dirty but as long as all the tiny holes are clean. The one pic of the diaphragm looks to have a long rip in it. I would hold them both up to a light and see if any shows through or if the rubber spins on the slide at all. Make sure both floats have been set to the correct height (26mm) remember to do each side to the float. Make sure you have assembled the jet needles as I have in the pic if no it will cause it to be very rich. Wow that's a messed up car:laugh:

xschris you are lucky i dont know where you live cause i could kiss you. i had the spring under the needle not on top of ir like it should have been. big thanks to everybody who posted this has been a group effert and i dont think i would have ever got her running without you help. so tomorrow i put the 2 in to 1 and jet kit back on, ill try not to mess anything else up on the way.:D:D:thumbsup::bike:

Don't shim the needle. I would try the 142.5 main. Remember the main is for full throttle only.
