Another New Guy and Simplex/Boardtrack Project

Ahale - that is exactly my vision, two maybe one gallon tanks hanging off the top tube in line with it. I am having an issue with access to a bender right now. Gone this weekend, hopefully next week.

Work is crazy busy so working on this is slow right now, so I have friends helping out. A buddy is turning some pieces for my cases out of 6" bar stock and all I got done so far on the frame is the top tube though the down tube heading to the cradle. Taking up my buddies shop so he is making the rear triangle tonight and then I will start on the cradle and boards.

Here are two pics from Lou. I will be back there tomorrow afternoon to do the motor mounts and head tube.

Thanks Drewpy. I am going to weigh it once its seat pan, head tube, tabs, motor mounts and running board mounts are finished (maybe by Monday). It is .120 x 1 3/4...major overkill for a 400 but my buddy likes the design so much he is going to make another template for future bikes. This bike will not be breaking any land speed records, even with a million speed holes!!!!

My buddy Lou is moving on with this project without me. He gusseted the neck and welded the frame today. I won't be able to work on the cases until Friday. I had some aluminum bar milled down to the size I needed and will fin them Thursday night, if all goes well.

I am getting some inspiration from these two bikes. Not that I am going to have a replica, just ideas. Mostly the black & white shot, dig the fork and other features, and the running boards off of the blue bike. Then add some low and long from a boardtracker and minimalism from a bobber and and call it good.

Thanks Volcom, honestly my buddy Lou gets credit for the welds. The neck is cool because it looks old school.

Here are some more updates. Decided a rear rack would being some vintage look to it. I have decided to run a front brake too, though I still like the look of no front brake I think too that many years in the dirt will cause me grab for a handful of front brake in an emergency. Still hoping to have it done in July.

Thanks guys. I am thinking of running calipers off of an old Sportster and a cable to hydraulic clutch to keep with the vintage look.

Here's the latest, tanks cut up and starting to build them.
