This al;l started with me buying an 81 XS 400 sight unseen when I was in the Corpse (you'll know if you've been in it). I rode the several hours from Quantico to NC to test ride her and then straight back three hours later.

Having never ridden a bike before I didn't check to see if she was really being cranked for the first time or not. He dropped her before she came off the trailer. Shower me the gas and clutch and I was off (no helmet I know tarded). I got about four miles and stalled turning around. Got her restated and was like ok.

Shed the Gay Saddle bags and had this

After a few bucks towards Carolina Cycle Solutions (big shouts to Jeff and Carlo, if you live in Charlotte go see them) and she had both pistons firing and was runing right with a nice bob. Way too much money to Maco for a shitty but cool paint job I had this

And after being happy and feeling some serious love for Betty. I had a woman decide to run about ten something feet up my ass and do thins (only a week after paint)

Anyway I have stripped her down to the frame and found a reputable guy who seemed cool over the phone and called back because I called before they were open (in school by seven so plenty of time to call) said he would do welding work on her. So it may be slow but I will update you guys on her progress.

Let me guess: an all-too-earnest Soccer-Mom in an SUV? The kind who think that a dotted line down the middle of the road with no one coming towards her is a signal for her to tailgate the bike in front of her?
Glad you were not hurt, but hinting at a bit of late-onset whiplash could encourage the insurance company to fix your bike in a proper hurry.

Hahaahah Hough that's how she became Black Betty

    Ok so what happened was
I was headed to work to pick up my check just enjoying having everything together riding well great weather (it was July) and life in general. I saw this woman on the phone riding the living hell out of a guys bumper so I waved to let her over she just stayed in the lane.

Ironically enough I remember thinking she's gonna assend someone. So I pass by and am cruising down 74 (independence if you're from Charlotte) when everyone starts coming to a stop. I am almost about to set my feet down and I hear screeching tires. I did the only thing I could do and leaned forward onto the handle bars and prayed. When she hit I felt Betty start going down so I flug my right hand back pushed the hood under me and lifted my legs to try to stay on top. My left hand held tight to the handle bars and keeping the Family jewels intact. Left leg slid up the exhaust and right just floated in the air. Kinda like spider man. Anyway I was lucky enough to have one of the guys from the local harely place driving infront of me, he pulled off the road so I didn't get sandwhiched in between him and her.

I did get another bike out of it (gsxr fun but bland) as well as third degree burns and a few months physical therapy for whiplash.

Now I am just trying to get her back to her glory.

I have found an awesome shop here in Orlando been in business for 30 something years.
So we are going to take a TC bros hardtail and modify it to fit the 400.

If I win the Mike's rims yay if not I'll be buying a set as I think the old one may be toast.
Also getting and bobbing another rear fender. Everything else is going back the same minus the seat and blinkers. I want to clean up the handle bars and get broom stick drag bar.

Pain and everything will stay the same.

Glad to see you guys so interested. I'll keep updating progress as we go. I'm ordering the frame on Friday when I get paid.

Hey bro, yeah, that is a fortunate piece of luck for you, sort of like the guy next to you getting taken out by a sniper.

Fix her up and ride her, but do beware the curse. I had a friend in a black audi that was cursed. He finally sold it after totalling it three times.

Well We shall see I doubt she's cursed and if she is I'll make her into a conversational piece for my kitchen or something. Ordering the hard tail tonight

Ok guys sorry it's been so long so here is a big update
I'll try and give you guys something to look at
Here is the frame stripped down
    [IMG]
Betty falls to pieces over me.
    Taking her to the welder
    [IMG]
Goodies from TC bros (yes 650 kits will work)
All welded no final but getting there
    [IMG]
    Looking at the Mock Up
    [IMG]
    Checking Alignment
    [IMG]
    Playing with the handle bars
    [IMG]
Got a seat mounted but wasn't ascetically pleasing, but we did like sitting on her
Ended up flipping the bars around because they touched the tanks
    [IMG]
    My little brother chilling
    [IMG]

Pipes on Ugly seat brackets removed ready to move home
    [IMG]

As of this week we got her home I transferred the title to my little brothers name since it's going to be passed around until everyone is familiar with how to ride then I'll buy her back. Like a bad ass heirloom.
Let me know what you guys think
