Can I use a 1978 front brake caliper in a 1981 sohc

My piston was seized so I ordered a used brake caliper form eBay, but it was a 1978 caliper (oops), the caliper still mounts to the bike, is it still compatible?

Yes they will fit. Just different pads and overall design. Have you tried a grease gun to get the old one out? It has work on every one I have done. Even on ones that sat for 30 years. You just replace the bleed valve with a grease fitting and pump it out.
