I got my chain off now how do I get it back on lol, do I have to take off the cover where the shift lever is?

Its a lot easier with the cover off but it can be done with it on. Just use a hook to pull it through.

I would pull the cover. That way the sprocket can be inspected for wear. If worn you can replace it, the rear sprocket and chain as a set.

Way easier if you pull just the sprocket cover part. You don't even need to move the clutch adjustment, just bag the sprocket cover in plastic and put it up on your tank while you work. You can clean out all the sprocket mud in the bike cavities, inspect the front sprocket for even wear, and generally, know a little more about your bike.
