does water damage a cdi?

im planning on mounting my cdi outside of my battery box and i was wondering if water would damage the cdi. I live in PNW and so it rains a lot here so i wanted to make sure this would be okay before trying it out

but yes technically it is a TCI box (SOHC xs400)

Yes, it is electronics mate. Hence it being covered on the side of the engine in the stock location. Has a circuit board.

I would keep it a dry as you can.

Thanks everybody! I'll make sure to try to make some sort of cover for it. If anyone has an easy recommendation please let me know. I was planning on cutting a piece of tupperware and putting the cdi/tci in there and duct taping the whole thing to my battery box.
