I sold my 1982 XS400 Heritage Special recently and I wanted to get another project so I found this '82 XS400 for sale. I got it from another XS400.com member, VIEIRA. He lives about an hour and a half away. He's a good guy, was forthright and helpful. I started taking it apart before I thought to photograph it. So aside from the removed carbs and exhaust it's almost complete. It does start and run but the day before I came to see it, fuel got through the carbs and dumped almost a quart into the crankcase. So the tank and carbs are off and new flushing oil in the crankcase. Oh it's a project, all the systems need attention, but I think it's a good candidate. It has 150 psi compression bilateral and charges at 13.4v. It needs the usual suspects like battery; tires, air filters, chain, brakes, side panels, petcock kit. I will however have to source some odd bits like a license plate light lens, and a lower front engine mount that I believe is '81-'82 specific.
