Stock works the best but MAC make an ok 2-2 system and a 2-1 system.

    wonder how loud mac is?

  4. The 2 into 1 I have is relatively loud. Mine which I checked last week idles at 89db. I installed mine 2 years ago and felt it was too loud from the get go. I was out of money and put it out of my mind until recently when I purchased a small db killer off ebay and installed it in the end of the pipe. That got it down to 79db at idle but it's still over 100db on acceleration.

I have a set of mac mufflers with 1 1/4" outlet and actual off set baffles. They are on 77-79 stock head pipes. I did have to use some high temp epoxy to help seal the insert/baffle to the muffler as it did leak a lot. I would think most of these do this as it's not welded into place. They are louder than stock setups and won't tune as well overall but work as a good alternative. I don't have a way to test for sound but these are way quieter than the 2-1 kerker I had with a free flow straight through muffler.

Where can you even get the Mac 2-1 system any more? I can't find it anywhere.

  7. I really like my Mac 2 into one because it's lighter than the factory set up I was using before but I had no choice because the originals were destroyed it a wreck. Don't get the wrong idea, I'm well satisfied with the Mac set up just would like it a little quiter.

  8. I just looked on their web site, www.macperformance.com and they don't list them anymore. I would suggest contacting them. Just because they don't list them doesn't mean they don't have any.

OldMose, If you like the Mac exhaust but not the sound, try a different muffler. There's lots out there.

  12. I've tried 2 different mufflers. The first replacement I used was slightly quieter but not enough to be noticeable. The one I'm using now is exactly the same as as the original as noise goes. That's why I started installing baffles. I go tired of spending money with no improvement. At the same time I don't want to add a lot if back pressure and change the way the bike runs. I guess I just can't be satisfied!
