gas tank damper/rubber mounts?

  1. Hey guys I'm slowly building up a list of things to buy from mikesxs including new jets, brake pads and other various items to rebuild my bike. I noticed my gas tank was missing one of the front dampers, in place of it was just electrical tape wrapped around several times. I Also noticed I dont have the rear tank damper at all and I think from the manual there is also suppose to be a third damper on the frame towards the rear of the tank.

I know what the front dampers are suppose to look like but I have no idea what the 2 rear ones look like since mine never came with them. Can someone take a picture of theirs to show me? Or if possible provide a link to where I can purchase replacement dampers. Thanks.

  5. ok so I received my rear tank damper and mounted it. I feel like its still missing a damper in this area I circled with red. Is there suppose to be something there? :wtf: I havent seen any pictures of anyone else with 79 xs400f showing anything there. Could anyone chime in? pictures possibly? Thanks!

Yes there should be a rubber ring that goes in the metal ring at the end of the tank.

  8. Kk thats what I thought.... Would anyone happen to have a picture of one mounted on their bike? The only thing I saw was this from mikesXS

So the one at Mike's is the one then?

Thanks for posting your question Sly!

I know its not available via the OEM sites, did you try the first link in there? I didn't have money available to try to buy at the time of the first posting. (sorry, I get paid weekly, very very weakly) (I was thinking it would be some road trip for a 3 dollar part ):bike::laugh:
SNIPE-- He is out of stock on that as well, The link didn't display quantity, but if you did a product search for it, It pop up and said OUT of STOCK.
