Hey y’all! Been reading a while but finally thought I’d post something. I picked up a bone stock 1981 for $300. Today I cut it in half and installed a hardtail kit from VooDoo Vintage. It’s my first time doing something as in depth as this but I think it’s coming along pretty good so far! The hard part in my opinion will be wiring. I want it to be pretty bare bones. Only headlight, tailight and kickstart only.

Your still going to need a battery to get it to run. These need power to operate the ignition system and excite the charging. You wont need one as lager as stock but one that will give it a good reliable 12.5v+ and can handle 14.5-7 volts of charging. Good luck with your project.

Made some progress! Got some spacers for the rear axle. Kickstand welded on. New bars and levers. Tank is mounted. Seat installed. As well as the electrics tank. Now to figure out where I want to mount the coils. Is there such a thing as to long of spark plug wires? I’d like to mount them on the backbone near the electrics tank. Also need to fab up a rear brake linkage. Building bikes is almost more fun than riding them!
