it wont spark

i have an 1980 xs 400 and it will turn over but not spark gets gas help!!!! plz

Does it have a good battery in it? Also do you have power to anything else. It might be a bad ground or broken wire.

it has a good battery it wont spark at all. but u can turn the kill switch and it will shock u on the motor and plug wire

it also has a good stator and stater and coil packs on it

Might be bad spark plug caps. Pull them off and cut a little off the wire ends and screw them back on.

What procedure are you using for checking for spark?

SPARK PLUG on the motor and touch
with my hand

If you are feeling a charge from the wire then you are getting power. But if you lay the plug on the engine and there is no spark between the electrodes on the plug than you ether have a bad plug or a bad connection between the wire and cap or cap to plug. Don't touch the plug when you do this.
