so soon ill be puttin the harnes back in the xs, ive got no tach or speedo anymore and im looking to go super basic. i'll be keeping the ignition switch as well

what can I remove?

can I rip out the selfcanceling unit with out it screwing anything up?

what does the witing from the tach do?

any issues if I rip out that neutral/oil/directional thing?

im kind of being lazy here, I dont feel like fully re-doing my harness untill I get her running again

You can just unplug the selfcancelling unit. I did and it worked out fine.
The tach is lit, and there should be a high-beam indicator-light. that's why its wired. so nothing wrong with removing those wires. The speedo is connected to the self-cancelling, but since you remove that it will work out just fine.

Nothing happens when you remove neutral/oil/directional since its only lights.
I just unplugged everything in the headlight for now, I need the neutral/oil/directional lights for legal purposes, but going to install small leds for them. so I keep em there until I need them.

This is anyway what i've done and read myself to in the wiring diagrams. Hope it's helpful!

ok, have any clue what that inine diode/resistor is before the wiring going from the 3 wires from the stator?
