He quoted me 150 a wheel for stock colors 135 additional for special order. More than I wanted to spend. Wish I had a paint booth but "she who won't be named" won't let me paint inside..." It stinks!". Rattle can for the wheels I guess.

Yeah all my wheels so far have been SEM Trim black.............15 bucks a can and works great.........

I love the trim black and it matches my powder coat also..........all the covers on my first build were trim black..........it doesnt like gas but cleans up really easy.....

Cool! Thanks for the tip. I am still trying to source tank emblems for the 1980 tank. If I don't find some soon I will be forced to grind out and fill that area too! I was hoping to not go that way,.nor buy xs1100 emblems for 35 bucks. I need some contrast on the tank so I will stripe and emblem it. I decided on a metallic bronze but it Looks too plain with some accents 20180703_164204.jpg

What did the finished Maxim end up looking like?

Its still the same way it was a few posts back.............actually I tore it all down and tossed the parts under the house.........

Just sold another project so this one is back on track as a winter project........trying to figure things out now and where I want to go with it...........kind of thinking a tracker/scrambler build........lost interest in clip ons and rear sets........ have a few tanks to choose from as I am a hoarder of those.........

Wanting to use the straight spoke wheels from the SOHC bikes hate these swooped wheels.............

Well it’s taken a turn into scrambler-tracker type build......want to cruise gravel roads and enjoy this little thing.....plus at my age bending over sucks

So have a few options on the tank and of course they will all need work....so have a kawi tank that fits really good....a xs500 tank that well needs a lot of opening......and also a early 400 tank of the round design.....

Here are a few pics of the first two chime in with your thought.....

The blue tank looks good too, at this point your cycle looks like an industrial sculpture of a chicken...

Am waiting on a few parts and want to get the wheels on and mocked up so I can see the stance of the bike......I love shipping this time of year.........also ordered a new rear sprocket as the new one I have wont fit the older 78 wheel I am going to run.....got an email today we are sorry we over sold the product and are issuing you a refund.....didnt think there was a hot market on sprockets.....

Had some time and started mocking things up. Had to add 1” to the stand so it would work. Swapped some 18s front and back along with some 705s...forks were torn apart and new oil and to my surprise progressive springs were in there. Also had the bottoms powder coated. Also picked up a shock from a XT 350. Now for the fun part figuring out the brakes.....

Think I found the tank.....it fits like I want and covers the back bone decently. Now I just need to fab up a subframe.

Been a slow summer and other projects……picked up a KLR and enjoy riding it more than wrenching in a hot garage……but a few updated pics…..and m unit works great.
