Ok its not an official how to lol, I havent run the bike with them yet but ill update when I do. Thought I might share my idea because its super easy and looks like it should work.

The mufflers im packing are reverse cone type probably similar to the common cheaper emgo type ones you see on ebay all the time. They have a removable cone on the end and a cylinder inside for packing.

Im not sure if your meant to pack from the other side because theres no way to stop the packing coming out if you stuff it in the top, so I came up with this

First remove the cone. Then find a metal lid from a glass jar that fits inside the cone, I found this pickle lid was perfect  Its actually a very common size lid and fits great. Drill a heap of holes in the middle, you can follow the round pop bit in the centre of the lid. Place the lid into the cone (3rd picture) then place the cone face down on a flat surface (4th pic) and push down so the lid snugs into the cone nice and flat (5th pic).

Now drill the lip of the lid through the holes that are already in the cone, I used a 2.5mm drill bit. Now put all the screws in and tighten them right down so you know they will go through the lid. Then just take them all out again, leaving the lid in place.

Pop the cone back onto the muffler and tighten up all the screws. Job done :bike:

I think that it will be way to restrictive for the bike the way you have it. :(

Drill more holes through the whole lid maybe and bigger holes? Still yet to try it on the bike. Or do you think it should be packed from the other side? I just wanna quite them down because they are way loud atm.

Chris??? chriiiiiissssss, CHRISSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Dont just leave me hangin here, all I got was a frown and you logged off

I'm in agreement with Chris.

Now, can you remove the core from the muffler? If so, wrap the scrubbers around the core, making sure they aren't tight. You need the exhaust gasses to pass through. If you can't remove the core, then insert the scrubbers from the inlet side of the muffler, attempting to distribute them evenly.

Leave the center of the core empty. The scrubbers are supposed to be acoustic material, not a physical baffle.

Dave

Yes on what dave said. What I would do is remove the jar lid and put in a 1/8" steel plate with a 1.5" hole in the middle. Or five 1/4" holes in the outer part of the plate.

Ah ok they go in the other side lol. Im not sure if the core comes out but I don't think so. Is it ok to put them in like you said dave, and make sure they are even? But what going to stop them moving around in there? Is this enough to quiet them down a bit or is the plate chris is talking about the actual baffle side of things?

Jam jar lid coming out

Unscrew the cap in the end of the muffler, than try to knock out the baffle, use scredriver, from the other side. Wrap the packing around the baffle and put it back together. it shouldnt be so hard.

without the tape ;)

sweet cheers guys, ill try knock out the baffle from the other side. Will the pot scrubbers do anything to quiet them down or are they a waste of time? Better off buying the proper stuff?

Some have found that layers of different materials works well. Stainless steel (pot scrubbers) first to take the heat and provide some noise dampening. Then fiberglass for more noise dampening and possibly thermal insulation as well.

Just be sure to stretch out the pot scrubbers so the exhaust gasses can get through, or you will have reduced the mufflers to nothing more than fancy looking pipes.
