There are 2 bikes that I am looking at and I want to make sure I can use the psw hardtail on them since they look different from the other xs's I have seen. Neither have rear springs. I want to make a bobber out of one of them. Also will the TC bros. sportster tank fit on them with no modification to the frame?

I'm not sure about the kits fitting the Secas as they are monoshocks...Pretty sure they don't have the frame set-up built to hardtail, but I may be wrong.

Those are Maxim 400's. Neither is an '81 as they came out in '82. The hardtail kit will not work. They are simple to hardtail by replacing the monoshock with a piece of square tubing instead. search xjbikes.com forums. There have been numerous ones done that way.
