rear master cylinder compatibiliy

Does anyone know if a 1978 XS400 rear master cylinder will fit on my 1977 XS400.
I'm guessing it probably will work, but I want to make sure before I go and buy it.
I have a rear master cylinder rebuild kit already which I assume is for the 1977 (since it came with the bike), so I'm hoping that will be compatible too.

btw, I'm new here and I think it's awesome there's a whole community focused on the XS400!
