So I recently bought a 1981 XS400H with some pretty catastrophic electrical issues and have been gradually rewiring with a new harness and checking all the components individually. I have yet to give much thought to the two relays listed simply as "safety relay" and "relay" in the wiring diagram. How should I go about checking these? I think I found the coil on one just by measuring resistance, but the other relay shows an open line no matter where I put the leads so I'm assuming it'll need to be replaced. On the one with the intact coil, can I hook up the battery and listen for the click similar to the starter solenoid?
If replacement is needed, are there aftermarket options? I'm assuming its a bad idea to just connect the respective wires on the harness without having anything in the middle....
