Hi everyone

Yesterday I was given a rear fender/ seat combo. So today, after a bit of snow, rain and hail, the sun finally came out. Amazingly it seems a good fit and with a little "fettle" here and there I'm hopeful it'll fit nicely. I've attached a couple of pictures to show how it looked. Personally I can't decide whether to lift the back end right up or drop it low? any thoughts? I also slapped an old VW indicator on there as mock up for a possible brake light but not so sure on that either?

Any comments greatly appreciated, thanks.

It does have a crack by the one bolt hole but I think its repairable, it has a lot of scratches too, so will have to try and clean it up a bit. But it was free so I can't complain. I'll go along to the next sale as the guys who gave me this actually had 3 of them. It'll require a little bit of trimming to shape but I am quite excited about it really. I might trim off the side panels or try and extend them, not sure yet.

Thanks for the comments

So, I thought I thought I would give an update on the seat so far. I've trimmed off the side panels, narrowed the front and started the filling the scratches, as well as plating over the crack (I'll have a go at plastic welding with mesh and a soldering iron at some point). Pretty happy so far, but now want to trim around the suspension points so it sits better. I'm thinking it'll look good with the original xs side covers on, any suggestions?

I also went back to the autojumble to buy up all the spare seats they had, but unfortunately the seller wasn't there, I'll try again next month (an so on).

I'll give it a go. Actually, looking at the pics now, the rear of the fender needs to go up a bit and the suspension down/ or right up (still haven't decided)

Hi everyone, just thought I would share a bit of an update. Progress has been slow because of moving house and things but the bonus is that I now have a garage :)

I've managed to cut back the frame and form a new rear seat brace that just needs welding up now.

The plan is still to use the plastic rear fender but fitting it under the seat brace instead of over it. I mocked it up by just strapping it in place. I want to wait and see if I am able to get another fender before I cut it up anymore though.

Got the seat brace welded in and started cutting the fender down (again). I'm feeling serious love for this bike at the minute. :D
